NATURAL HISTORY AND ATTRACTION IN FORT MYERS!

Fort Myers was the home of the Seminole Indians during the time that this city was developed and settled.  It's first known resident was Manuel Gonzalez, a man from Austria who cam through from Cuba and decided to stay.  Fort Myers was built to keep out the Seminole Indians who were killing and massacring the people who came to settle there.  It was named after the establisher's son in law, Abraham C.
