Fort Myers Rentals THE NEED FOR A VEHICLE!
NATURAL HISTORY AND ATTRACTION IN FORT MYERS!
Fort Myers was the home of the Seminole Indians during the
time that this city was developed and settled. It's first known
resident was Manuel Gonzalez, a man from Austria who cam through from
Cuba and decided to stay. Fort Myers was built to keep out the
Seminole Indians who were killing and massacring the people who came to
settle there. It was named after the establisher's son in law,
Abraham C. Meyers. Apart from the people who came to settle Fort
Myers, this city used to be the vacation winter home of Thomas Edison.
It is said that Edison made many of his technological advances here
in Fort Myers
and there is now a museum in to honor his name near the city
square. This
city was the second largest in Florida at this time, just barely smaller
than Tampa. There are great sites to see in Historic Downtown Fort
Myers and you will be amazed at the culture and excitement this
wondrous city has to offer. Fort Myers also happens to be where the Boston Red Sox hold their training camp, along with the Minnesota twins, and three other World Series winning teams. Hammond Stadium located in Lee county offers the National Baseball League's teams a place to play and practice and is open during training for anyone who wants to come spectate. This stadium was built in 1991 and holds up to 7500 people.
